This is some bs!!!

Are you driving or flying?

If you stop for gas in NJ, don't get out of the car, they'll pump it for you...

A BB gun??? You have got to be kidding me!!! What type of childhood would you have if it weren't for that old daisy or red ryder??? I'm not gonna go this has given me more than a handful of reasons to be grateful to live in GA!

And BTW, don't think about bringing a knife or pepper spray either. Those are going to be items that will land you in jail as well.

Of course all the things mentioned above would be felony charges, so you would lose your rights even when you got back to GA.

There's a reason people sell 'tactical pens'.

Not true about the knife. You can carry a manual folder or a fixed blade as long as you tell them you are carrying for work purposes. Never say self defense.

Do not bring a weapon to NY. NY doesn't honor any other states permits.
You have 2 choices comply with NY law or don't go.

There is a 3rd choice but its to be used at your own risk.

I lived in NJ for 10 years, be into the city a lot of times, never once had a gun on me. Been a couple times when I'd felt better having one but fortunately never really needed one.

Anyone seen those flash lights that are equipped with a taser??? I wonder what they would have to say about that. I found one that's 25 million volts on ebay.

Not to bring you down in your hunt for defensive devices but I took my family to NYC for spring break one year ago. Stayed at the Marriott on Times Square. Two nine year old boys with wife and I.

We bought subway passes for the week. Went all over. Only taxi we used was to go from Laguardia to hotel. Everything else was on foot.

You're going to be fine. Don't sweat it too much as long as you stay on the beaten path.

Rode the Staten Island ferry, saw the 9/11 memorial, saw a Broadway show, ate at some GREAT restaurants and never was accosted ONCE.

Yea it's kind of funny how freaked out people get to be disarmed for a quick visit to a different state. I recognize something can happen at any time, but I spent so much time in NYC before I was even 21. Nothing ever happened. And I recognize their laws are unconstitutional. OP, I wouldn't get too concerned. Go enjoy your trip with your family.
