A lot of people have the WRONG idea about Standard Poodles because they make them look so feminine in the show ring. Most of them are seriously tough dogs that are very intelligent.

Show breeding has screwed some of them up and they have fear issues, but a good one is one of the best dogs you can possibly have.

Very true. You would be hard pressed to find a more trainable breed. liwas very reluctant when my wife had her heart set on one (we had only had labs and retrievers) but I'm glad she brought him home. Sooo much more intelligent than my past dogs. But with the negative attention they get I can see why most guys would never think of owning one.
