Thoughts on this generator?

It sounds decent. But there are things to consider. There isn't a manual start up. Very possibly would be hard to start by hand. I can tell you, running a generator is expensive. For a few hours or days, not so bad. But weeks would get expensive. Another thing is manufacture support. Parts, service and repairs. I would also consider a diesel. It'd be cheaper on fuel. Now granted in a crisis gas would probably be easier to find

Decent for the price. Nearly all of the motors these days are chonda clones, and the Chinese plants have improved in pretty much every aspect: QC, materials, docs, parts availability. You just have to be good about maintenance and be ready to turn wrenches yourself if it breaks.

Depending on the electrical appliances you intend to use, check if Pure Sine Wave or Square Sine Wave. I fried the brains of a new water heater after a few sessions on a Coleman 3600 generator. (Note: The water heater company overnighted me a new brain for the water heater as it was under warranty.) I asked the Orange Box store where I bought the water heater about the difference and got the deer in the headlights look. I got to check with a real electrician.
