noted above, try and run your gas generator on ethanol-free gas if you can. One of the big problems with E-gasoline is that storing it over a couple of months, and you run the risk of it turning into jelly - either in the gas cans or in the engine of the generator.
You can delay and reduce the chances of that happening if you use something like marine gasoline stabilizer, but the best solution is always to find a gas station that sells ethanol-free.
