There's a story behind the first pic with motor running but nobody on board. Like the old National Enquire commercial, I want to know more.

When I launch I leave the boat by the dock using spot lock on the trolling motor. I let the motor warm up while I park the truck. The dock is about 4ft to the right of the boat I just didn’t get it in the photo. I was walking to the boat and liked the way it looked so I snapped a pic.

If DNR sees that happening live at the time, they gonna press the issue.

A powered boat, with engine on, but running at idle, with no one on board.

Owner relying on a small battery remote controlled tolling motor, assuming boat owner's remote device is working perfectly and batteries fully charged, and radio receiver on said boat's trolling motor is operating perfectly OK, and batteries on boat are working perfectly OK.

There's s no Radio Frequency in the vicinity that remotely approaches the frequencies (or power, or spurious harmonics) to override the remote you are using to remotely control that boat at idle.

I get what you are saying. What could go wrong, right?.

I'd assume over my long years dealing with DNR, they are going to have something to say about that. Not necessarily all of them, but MANY of them.

I’m just wondering if they can write a citation. On the motor idling I think maybe. The trolling motor as an anchor I think falls under wise/unwise not legal / illegal

That commercial did not show that the outboard was running during the launch.

So you think the motor will just randomly engage? I leave mine running at the dock all the time while parking the vehicle and trailer.

They recommend not doing that actually in the manual. I launch with me in the boat, drive to the dock, then step out and anchor the boat. Once I’m sure the motor is locked on I walk away.

Leaving the motor running could be a stretch although I can’t find anything in the refs about that.
