Snippet from the video I posted earlier. That's the CEO of this ****show speaking. No "50 year old white guys" need apply. Apparently inspiration and diversity was a much bigger concern than safety.

Yeah, old experienced guys want to get it right, latest generation cool factor is king.
Looks like they may have ended up with a ‘hold my beer’ moment.
Had hoped it was just a comm problem, but time is almost up.
We joke, but it is 5 lives on the line.

The arrogance is truly astounding. I wonder how many times he went on that thing?

Yep and now he's hoping those "50 year old white guys" will come save him - on the taxpayers dime.

Not sure how many times he was on the tube (it ain't a sub), but apparently it wasn't rated for that depth. He also had them remove communication because he was tired of people on the other end (above the surface) bothering him. He was being sued by at least two parties over fraud and over safety concerns. There looks to be a long line of WTFs with this CEO.

Bless his heart.

This wasn't a diversity thing, in the crew photo they were all white anyway and mostly men. They didnt want old white dudes because they are cheap as **** and didn't want to pay for expertise, and didnt want someone bitching about safety... like the white guy they fired for telling them their sub was unsafe.

The CEO said it was about inspiration but I got dollars down saying he wanted impressionable young people straight out of college desperate to do something / be someone, willing to work longer hours, for little and probably late pay, that he could manipulate into doing anything for "the team". Older people with both life and professional experience would be more likely to tell him to pound rocks.

Seems like he was building this all on his personality and probably exploiting personal relationships with said "young inspirational" people to get them to do things they otherwise wouldn't.
