This reminds me of the last time I ran my old hat through the dishwasher. Pro Tip: don't run it with dishes. They had this disgusting gray haze on them. Of course, the hat had a birthday or two since it's last wash.
I usually just use a pressure washer and some WD-40.

I don't even clean my glocks. It don't matter if it BNIB or had 20,000 rounds through it you can still sell it on here for retail. 
My wife would freak out like I would if I ever found any or her "craft" crap on my work bench.
Who cleans a glock anyway ?

I used the dishwasher to clean the cosmoline out of a Mosin stock. Worked great until someone told my wife. However, put it on pot scrubber, run the cycle, steel wool the grain and rub with BLO. A lot easier but do not tell my wife. I figured the hot water washed it down the drain.
