This is the infamous 500 that has been giving me he'll for the past few days. When I was trying to get the rail off I tried to tap in a larger bit and now it seems that the trigger is stuck. When I pulled the trigger group and pulled the bolt and the carrier out a piece came out with it that I'm not sure where it goes. I'm pretty sure it's a trigger piece but I'm not sure were. The pictures below are the piece and if you guys could help me find its home that would be great.

Trigger seems to be stuck on safe on mossberg 500.

Had one stuck similar to that, And the sear was rust stuck in the disengaged position not allowing it to cock the hammer....A thorough cleaning and new springs....Good as new. The sear spring is a MOFO on the 500....
I bet your putting the piece in backwards.
Nope. It got stuck before I took the assembly apart. I'm thinking I might have gotten a little bit of epoxy between the trigger and the frame when I was trying to get a stripped bolt out. I'm going to work on getting it cleaned up a bit more before I take it to a gunsmith
So, I'm an idiot and got a little bit of epoxy into the trigger frame and that's what was locking it up. Got it all cleaned out and it's working fine now. Gotta love those moments where you make yourself feel really dumb
