Trijicon or holosun on pistol?

I really hate to say this but Trijicon is obsolete and hasn’t upgraded/innovated anything new towards their RD line up…. They are still really tough optics but their competitors have surpassed them with better options (shake awake, solar battery panels, emitting target options, battery positioning, and similar durability)

I’ve ran Trijicon RMR’s for a while too… they just seem to fall behind a bit compared to what’s avidly available as standards for 1/2 the price

They have the rmr HD and rcr now.

That's going to depend on use and what gun it's going on. Fullsize or slimline type stuff.

I have a bunch of both. Nothing wrong with either.

For competition / range toy you'd want an SRO or 507comp. I have 3-4 SROs on my competition guns.

I really like the EPS and EPS carry. I have the fullsize on a 34 and a carry on my 19 and 48.

I think the RMR is the most overrated optic ever. It was just the first dot that could survive riding a slide. It's terrible to actually use.
The rmr is the most proven mrds on the market, bar none. It's simple and tough. Nothing else has the track record of the rmr.

Your rebuttal is that holosun is cheaper so better?

My rebuttal is Holosun offers more features with near identical toughness at a fraction of the cost… just wish Trijicon would upgrade a few features that the China brands call standards.

I still rock Trijicon but the battery replacement sucks and seems like I’m constantly replacing it.

What features?
Shake awake = joke
Solar = joke

Side or top load battery is a nice feature. Not necessary, but nice. The SRO, RCR and RMR HD all address this.

Choice in reticle is nice, but more and more, for a handgun, a 5-8 moa dot is perfect for me. I guess maybe there is the only place "lacking?"

Mostly because it's been around the longest without any changes. Having a super tiny window also lends to its durability. If you need to use one as a hammer or severe hard duty use sure. For the average gun owner it's just not needed and I'd prefer ones that are better for actual shooting like an SRO.

Who has or had both and what do you like better and why?
I’ve used a lot of “micro” pistol optics and here’s what I’ve found. The holosun optics are not “mechanically” bad, but they do have some issues. For one they are directly linked to supplying and backing the People’s Liberation Army of China and the Chinese Govt. Maybe you’re a communist and that’s not an issue to you, okay it’s a free country and you’re allowed to be wong (see what I did there ). They’re also using cheaper emitters, lower quality glass, and they have to use darker tinted coatings to have the same effectiveness of their American, Swedish and German counterparts. They’re not combat optics, they’re not readily issued by any branch of the military or federal Govt and I don’t trust them.

I currently use a Type 2 RMR on my work gun and have a few other ACRO’s and RMR’s scattered about. Never had any issues with them and I’ve always been satisfied by theirs performance. Clean glass, durable, reliable and they’ve yet to lose zero.
