I can't find anything so far on how many times they "do it" per year.

Depends if they are married, that will reduce the number of times in a year.

LMAO! Seems to me like the name "Box" turtle should only apply to the female.

Yep, me too, considering GeauxLSU said they do it several times a year in his back yeard. Turtles so hawny!

I meant I see several occurences of it (multiple turtles). Now that I think about it I can't really say how long a period from the first to the last one I notice is. Hmmm....
Another interesting thing is when the nest gets raided, I never see any shell remnants. I'm guessing it's still soft (since invariably it's that same night) and they eat the whole thing.

Ah OK, gotcha. Eating the shell doesn't shock me as there is probably quite a bit of calcium and other goodies in it.
