Two Georgia cops shot.......

I would argue that it is actually very uncommon . . . Maybe a few highly publicized - but not "common". If you have factual numbers I will gladly stand corrected.

Oh jesus, I knew you'd get all bent out of my use of the phrase "not uncommon". I'm not in law enforcement so all I can do is speak about what comes on the evening news and I've seen more than story on this so to me that makes it "not uncommon".

I say from here on out warrants should only be served between 1pm and 5pm. Also their should be a call ahead to be sure the perp is dressed, fed, had a smoke, and is ready to go to jail.
See, now there's some sensible criminal control that we can all get behind! After all, it's for the children . . .

In the spirit of Christmas maybe law enforcement should bring fruit cakes instead of handcuffs..... After all most criminals are good boys anyway

Awww . . . you care so much. I know, we should send them an invitation to a Christmas party and after its over invite them to jail to turn themselves in.

You would rather they attempt a traffic stop and be involved in a high speed pursuit at 5 pm? Oooooorrrr? Hmmmm, maybe we can just give you names and numbers of the wanted felons, you can have them over for lunch and when you're done give us a call to come arrest them. That way they won't have their sleep disturbed and they'll be full. Whatcha think?

Can you explain why they would execute a warrant at 2am vs 7 or 8 am? I don't want this to happen to any LEO, but it seems like the risk of something bad happening is increased at such an hour. Again I'm not picking, I'm just asking a question. At 7 or 8 am, most people are awake and aware, ie, functioning. At 2am, you may be waking a person...a paranoid person at that...it seems like it's just asking for a situation to go bad. I'm not a LEO, so I don't pretend to be trained or armchair quarterback...just asking a question from the outside looking in...

For the reason you stated. At 2am you have the best chance to catch someone that is possibly armed and dangerous off guard. By smashing in and surprising the person you have a chance to apprehend the subject without using lethal force

I gotcha. That's what I thought. I guess it's a chance you take either way and I hate what anyone in law enforcement goes through in a situation like this...bc every situation is different. If you got a killer who has holed up in a hotel, yeah I can see busting in and getting him. Something that's like this case, especially in light of last month...I don't see how you guys do it. My hat is off to you.
