A state official said two central Georgia police officers were shot and wounded early Monday while serving a search warrant.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation Special Agent J.T. Ricketson told reporters that a multi-jurisdictional drug task force went to a Byron home off state Highway 42. He said the officers knocked on the door three times and announced themselves but there was no answer.

Ricketson said the officers entered the home and an occupant started shooting at them. The officers returned fire. The condition of the suspect wasn’t released.

Ricketson added that officers from Peach and Crawford counties, Byron and Fort Valley take part in the drug task force.

The two officers were taken to Medical Center, Navicent health in Macon. Both officers are expected to recover, authorities told Fox 5 Atlanta.

Officials were still investigating.

Early Monday morning? 12:01-6:00 am would be early. Most folks are still asleep. I wonder if they got the right house?

Knocked 3 times and announced themselves? Bam, bam, bam, police, then enter.
Now the police have entered the dwelling, in less than 4 seconds after arriving. The occupant has been awaken from a dead sleep with beating on their door, and there house being entered, in the pre dawn hours. That's probably a good way to get shot.

The DEA/Drug task force has caused many families a lot of pain and suffering, with little else accomplished.

I took assumptions as to the time the warrant was served, just as many readers, but most of those readers were thinking of the sun shining brightly at 8:00 or 9:00 am. We don't know.
Did the officers Knock 3 times and wait 5 minutes for someone to answer the door? Probably not.
3 knocks while you say police and bust in a door, probably isn't/wasn't a good idea.

I've had this same argument with my BIL who is a LEO and he serves no knock warrants all the time ( or so he says ). Basically the police officers can do no wrong, they always get the right house, and even if you're a good guy or bad guy you're not supposed to shoot police officers in any scenario who are trying to do their job. Even if they forcefully enter your home because you shouldn't be living in an area where there is drug trafficking if you're a good guy...

Bet it was the wrong house.

wait and see

this area is "meth land" moved here from Ohio 7 years ago
first week here mailman said "baby you are in meth land" we had a "inactive" meth lab on property, neon tape leading to dirt road,
coolers buried in the woods, tons of drano bottles

not a good area

moonshine and meth
