Might not be a bad thing to have in case the SHTF. I got a set today that is rechargeable and also use's batteries.http://www.amazon.com/Midland-Consu...qid=1365976868&sr=8-15&keywords=two+way+radio I will be using these a good bit on our hunting property cause cell service is spotty at best. I guess as long as you have batteries you will have communication. Which may end up being crucial. Do yall have any radios and what do you think of them.

I couldn't agree more, several of mine take AA or AAAso they can be solar recharged, but me and soggybottomboy both got a set of these "hand crank" powered. They are ok, if you crank em for about 5 min me they run for a while but in field testing u have to crank a fair amount to get good use out of them. But no batteries is a nice feature.

I have always wanted a set of two ways.... I just dont see the need to have something sitting arround going unused. I shoot my guns, I rotate my ammo and use it sparingly, but i dont see myself ever actually using these unless it hits....
