Two way radios

I was going to post on the Baofeng's, too. I haven't researched them a whole lot, but somebody posted it on here a while back and I thought this might be an affordable option and better than the off the shelf radios at sports stores and Walmart.

I can't remember who it was that posted it but they said they work really well for the money. They are supposed to have several different options, too, including HAM frequencies and some others. Some say the HAM license is easy to get but if you're in a shtf situation, is having a license going to matter?

This is the one they posted: http://www.amazon.com/Baofeng-136-1...0&sr=8-6&keywords=two-way+radio+baofeng+uv-5r

Thanks man. You said someone said they work well for the money. I really just want a couple really good radios, and don't mind spending more to get it. Any suggestions y'all?

I guess, what I really meant was, the poster essentially said, they work "surprisingly" well for the money. I believe that was the reference...my bad.

I agree that if I want something that I would depend on that much, it's worth laying down the cash. Buuuutttt if these work exceptionally well, then I'd give them a try for 40 bucks each. I should try em now, while there are still options, I suppose...........It's on my to-do list. :couch2:

Can't wait to hear how they work out, thanks.

I've used midland for a long time in scenario paintball -that woods ball to some- and they worked great. Adding team members just means telling the newby what channel and sub channel and they run on AA. Oh, and they have lots of upgrade accessories like ear buds and throat mic or just head sets. We sprang many an ambush taking out the entire enemy at once. You can hear a team mate whisper. The can key to talk or vox

and the newer ones have better than 22mile range in open country. That's a day or 2walkin away and still in communication.

They are "secure" channel feature enabled and you could give intensional misinformation on open channels. What's not to like

For 43 dollars I may pick up one of these as well, seems like a real good buy!
