Actually, I dont know if the top handgaurd is different but they sell the top handgaurd seperately for the m44 there too for $10

WD 40 works great on the stock and metal.Then i use Murphys Oil soap on the stock and Rem. Gun oil on everything else.

Also if I want to return it to original condition, all I'll have to do is leave the stock out side for a month or two in the mud and slap it against a tree trunk a couple of times.

It may be getting coated on Saturday, I'll definitely post pictures when I do.

I use a spray gun and spray the shellac on in about 3 layers.

Try some glass lab slides. They will also just scrape the finish off.......
