My position was cut today, no notice and no severance. I'm going to try and remain positive and look for a new position. Last time, it took 18 months to find my last job, and it really sucked... I hope I can find a now one quickly.

THIS,I am 48 yrs old and
We are always in need of Carpenter types. It's not glamorous but it's realitively easy 4 x 10 hrs nights Mon-Thurs. Work threw a temp service for first 90 days so payment is daily, weekly or bigger monthly. Get paid more than regular temp work. Currently our jobs are around the ATL...mostly OTP.
My 19 yr old son home from college was looking for a summer job and got a job with a small HVAC company
He's working 12 to 16 hours a day, 6 days a week
Don't give up or get discouraged
I've been in your shoes , except mine was a new guy came in at the top and threw me overboard the first week so he could hire one of his unemployed college buddies
I worked there 9 1/2 years
It sucked to get that treatment
But I liked the new job I found a lot better
Although there were a couple crappy ones in between
I mean Really crappy , where I went to lunch on the second day and just said F this, and kept driving and went back home .

I feel your pain, but decided 18 years ago to not let others hold my life in their hands. I have been successfully self-employed for 18 years now. I couldn't imagine working for someone else ever again. No, it's not perfect, but beats the grindstone any day. My brother thinks I am crazy, as does his bi%$h wife, but it works for my wife and I.
