Unusual finds while digging/working on job sites

i wasnt digging but i bought an investment property with a garage. the old landlord had rented the garage out to someone that disappeared over 10 years ago. it wasnt much of a garage and he didnt want to clean up the mess. we closed the deal and when i took possession, i opened the garage and it hasnt been opened in over 20 years.

Other than some personal belongings and a motorcycle...there were some well preserved boxes stacked neatly. I opened it up and they were some LIONEL train sets that were absolutely dear to someone. Well kept, many were played with but always put back into the original box. some were new and unplayed / untouched.

I could tell this set meant something to that person. Im not a train person, i took it to someone that was into trains. his eyes were wide open and wanted to buy them from me. This guy had a whole attic with tables that were designated for trains with tunnels, mountains.

I knew the set belongs with this person. So I shook his hand and said...pass if forward. enjoy.

My uncle’s grandfather was walking home from school one day when he was a kid and saw the butt of a rifle sticking up out of a plowed field. He dug it up and asked the farmer if he could have it. The farmer told him yes. This was in Wilkinson county GA, not sure when. Anyways, it was handed down to me. I have sitting over my desk a Confederate Springfield 1848. It has a couple notches cut into the stock, initials, and is still loaded. It was obviously used in battle.
