UPDATE 10/3 - Injunction covers all FPC members - ATF publishes their pistol brace rule

The pushback is a joke. 40 million-ish in circulation, 200k people bothered to write in the open forum in 2021.

That kind of shows how many people are probably still clueless they are about to be turned into felons.

So if I’m to guess, destroy the brace it came with or put it in the attic and it’s just a pistol?

If you destroy the brace I can't see how they can charge you with anything, but they are so vague that I'm sure they've left that open.

In the attic would probably be a no-go, since you could easily just put it back on again.

You think a Remington Tac 14 will fall under this new rule?
In my opinion, the Remington Tac 14, as originally reviewed with the Raptor grip (but no brace) falls into the "firearms category". Technically, a 12 gauge, pump action firearm with a 14 inch barrel. The firearm must maintain an overall length of greater than 26 inches, which is why it features the unique Shockwave Raptor grip that extends the overall length to greater than 26 inches (when fitted with a 14 inch or longer barrel). With the total/overall length of greater than 26", it is/was not classified as an NFA firearm, so no stamp is/was required.

The ATF addresses this and states that it cannot be shouldered. From pages 22 and 23, under the discussion of "a firearm commonly known as a “pistol grip firearm” with a smooth bore"...
Nevertheless, the addition of a “stabilizing brace” to these types of firearms does not assist with one-handed firing but rather redesigns the firearm by providing surface area for firing from the shoulder.

Based on this info, and the fact that the stabilizing brace "redesigns the firearm", in my opinion, they are also stating that your Tac 14 (if now fitted with a brace) and "these types of firearms would fall within the purview of the NFA as short-barreled shotguns," thus becoming NFA items.

Firearms and Ammunition Technology Division (“FATD”), Office of Enforcement Programs and Services, referred to the originally submitted “pistol grip firearm” in the footnote below...
