For those who don't know the USS Texas is the last surviving Dreadnought
battleship. She was launched in May 1912 and served as the Flagship of the American fleet in her early years.
The ship saw extensive use in WW1 partolling the North Atlantic and as convoy escort.
She fought at North Africa, Normandy, Iwo Jima and Okinawa.
She earned 5 Battle Stars for her service and was the first battleship to launch aircraft, the first to have anti-aircraft guns and the first to have the 14" guns mounted.
The ship was retired in 1948 and was gifted to the state of Texas.
Since then she as been a museum ship and national historic landmark.
In later years due to neglect and the ravages of time the Texas had fallen into ill repair.
Since 2022 the Texas has been undergoing a 60 million dollar renovation and is finally nearing completion and hopefully will be in it's new home by 2026.

Now on with the show...
