Value? 1978 Colt detective special (38)

I’m considering selling this and wanted some idea on value if you guys don’t mind…I did a little research and believe it to be a 1978 model with the R suffix. Thanks

The recent completed sales on GB range from $650 to $1350 for the 3rd issue DS 1973-1986. Not having the original grips will reduce the value. A pair 3rd issue DS grips recently sold on GB for $156.

I was going to say the same regarding losing a little value to replace the grips to original. It looks to be in great shape though so that certainly helps.

Thanks so much for the info, I was thinking of listing it for $700 and just wanted to be sure I was not out of line. It’s in excellent condition and I don’t think it was shot much at all. I’ll have to look to see if the original grips might be around here.
