Verdict is in...

Wow, just saw footage of the defense team LITERALLY jumping up and down for joy and having a champagne toast. Sorry ***holes, but the subject matter is still a dead little girl and you should have the dignity to refrain from acting like happy little schoolchildren in public.

I think they are in shock that that actually won lol.

I didn't intend on commenting on this case, but I couldn't hold back when I saw the pictures of Caylee Anthony. How were people convicted before DNA? They were convicted on circumstantial evidence or a witness/witnesses, which is direct evidence. How this jury came to a "Not Guilty" verdict just boggles my mind. Circumstantial evidence is still evidence. In this case there is a mountain of circumstantial evidence. I have followed the case thoroughly. Through all the ****, some eighty plus testimonies, lies, etc. I can still see who the bad guys are, girl in this case, and I'm just a Maintenance Director. Casey Anthony had the motive, wanting to live the free life. The smell of decomposition in the car. The Google search of chloroform. She intentionally misled friends and family as to the whereabouts of her daughter as she danced on her daughter's grave. Then, intentionally misleading police officials. There is only one reason why people lie and that is to cover up something that they are guilty of. I don't believe the jury did their duty as honorable Americans. Not in less than eleven hours. I expected the jury to be out until at least Wednesday afternoon. Any person who sees right through the mountain of circumstantial evidence in this case is a complete idiot. The problem wasn't the prosecutors, but the jury. All of the circumstantial evidence given, if you can put it together with some common sense, should have lead the jury to one of two conclusions. Either Casey Anthony murdered her daughter or she tried to cover up an accident (I believe the latter to be bull****). People are used to the DNA forensic stuff that they have to have it to prove someone guilty or they don't take the time to think and put the circumstantial evidence together. Circumstantial evidence allows a trier of fact to deduce a fact exists. This speaks a great deal as to which direction society in America is going.

Excellent post.

I think the prosecution was pushed to present an untenable case to court because of public and media outcry. Thet were forced into playing on emotions rather than taking any more time to garner substantial physical evidence. I agree that she was probably guilty, but I couldn't swear to it. The grandmother "said" she thought she smelled a dead body in the trunk. That's hearsay, not circumstance, and wasn't physically proven. Does the GM have familiarity with the smell of human decompostion? You really don't expect a daughter's DNA to not be found anywhere on her mother's car? The body was found in a plastic bag with duct-tape on her mouth, but no plausible evidence pointed to her cause of death, and murder wasn't proven. I agree that a lot was presented that pointed toward guilt, but didn't prove it. The system worked, the jury followed the law, and a weak prosecution led to an apparent travesty of justice, but we can only suppose it. This differs from the O.J. case greatly, with only the outcomes similar. The California jury acquitted O.J., even when presented with a multitude of actual physical evidence, motive, cause of death and defined murder weapon, time-frame, opportunity, and a well presented case, etc.
As far as "gut" feelings go, that and religioius fervor is what they went by at the Salem Witch Trials, and we know how that came out.
