Vortex Optics Opinions

I'm considering getting a Vortex Viper HS to put on my AR for plinking and hunting. As most of you already know, Vortex has a good reputation, but their scopes are hard to find in local OR chain stores. I like to handle an optic before I buy it, but Vortex isn't readily available in retail places around here.

I did get the chance to handle a Diamondback at Bass Pro in Macon though. Very impressed with it. Felt rugged (heavy), was crystal clear throughout the magnification range (3-9), and the reticle stayed focused throughout. It kind of made my mind up for me, but I would like to hear some feedback from those of you who actually own one.

So who out there owns a Vortex scope? What is it? What do you think of it?

have heard good things as you said but I"m curious as well. they have two 1-4x models that I'm interested in for an AR and have been waiting for someone I know to pick one up...

I've got 2 of their scopes. A 6-24x50 on my bull 20 AR and a 4-12x40 on my XL7 in 30-06. I absolutely love both of them. They hold a zero, are clear thru the entire range of zoom, collect light well...what more do you need? IMO they can't be beat for the price, not to mention they have a lifetime warranty.

I have a 2.5x10x44 hs mounted on an my ar. Its a great scope especially for the price and warranty. Its not as clear as my leupold mk4, but then again I can't see $900 diffrence between the two either. Its attached to a laure qd mount, I accidently dropped it from a height of 4ft, no shift in zero or damage of any kind. Rugged build, good finish, 4 inch sun shade, and scope covers included. From the little experience I have w/ their optics ( Vortex Viper) I don't think you can go wrong with their products, great price points for the quality in my opinion.
