They shut down the bridge in the middle of Franklin for filming for about a week for Footloose. I know more was filmed in other places in GA but not sure where.
Smokey's Bandit was one of 3 Reynolds movies filmed in GA. Sharkey's Machine and Deliverance were also filmed here. The bus stop scene in Forrest Gump was filmed in Savannah as was the resetaraunt scene in "Something to Talk About" with Julia Roberts and Dennis Quaid. Zombieland with Woody Harrelson, Sweet Home Alabame with Reese Witherspoon(ironic isn't it), Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil(Kevin Spacey), Killers(Ashton Kutcher)m The Legend of Bagger Vance(Wil Smith) and lots more.
It's kinda neat seeing places in person from the movies. The wife and I sat on Forrests bench(They redirected the traffic around the square for some reason, when they filmed). We had dinner where Dennis Quaid got caught cheating on Julia Roberts. And a long time ago I got to got to the fairgrounds...those were good times.
Fried Green Tomatoes was filmed in GA too. The restaurant was in the booming town of Juliet and there were a few scenes in Newnan too. We used to go to the Winn Dixie where Kathy Bates freaks out and rams the other car, not to be touristy, just because there wasn't s#$% in Newnan.......and for the Chek cola.....obviously.
I'd be a Walking Dead extra for the low price of free............... as long as I could be a zombie that gets crossbowed!
