They had two cans of the 420rd this evening. They were holding them for a buddy. Dude showed up while I was there.
Ok, I would like to clear this up. I am that "buddy", and you guys have this thing WAY wrong. I was in the Alpharetta store on sunday 3/10, the 420rd cans showed instock on line so I drove out there. Walked through sporting goods and saw nothing on the shelves, walked to electronics and had them scan the UPC, 10 cans in stock. We walk back over to sporting goods and find the department manager. Before the other associate can even open his mouth the SG guy spouts off "I already know, you want to know about the 5.56 ammo, we got 10 cans in and I aint gonna sell you any of it!!!". The electronics guy who was helping me reminds the SG manager that it is against company policy to refuse a sale of an in stock item. SG manager goes on to explain how he "special ordered" this ammo for a friend at the Sherrif's office and it was not for sale to the public. I called B.S. and asked to speak with the store manager. SG guy states "he is not here and it was his decision not to sell the ammo".
Walk up front to customer service, ask to speak with the highest available manager. Speak with assistant manager, he states he knows nothing about holding back any ammo sale and would look into it but there was nothing he could do at that time. I ask for the # to walmart corp. and call while still in the store. Started a case with corporate and was told I would be contacted the next day by the highest available manager. I am assured by corporate that I would be able to purchase my product.
Fast forward Monday 3/11 8:00am. Cell phone rings, "this is Don, assistant Manager at Walmart in Alpharetta Ga, We appologize for any inconvenience we caused by refusing to sell you the ammo, how much did you wan't to buy and when will you pick it up" The asst manager went on to explain the "misunderstanding" and further apologize for any wrongdoing on the part of Walmart and their staff. Since I work on the other side of town, Don agreed to hold the ammo until I could come out that eve. I also only asked for 2 cans as that was I needed or could afford to buy.
I caught a Walmart employee in a lye and called them out on it. There was no buddy deal, just Walmart doing the right thing after getting slapped by corporate.
Hopefully a Sporting Goods Manager position opened up at that store.Sounds like the guy in sporting goods is holding ammo for his friends what a bunch of BS. Good on you for calling them out and management making it right.
