Want to know why intelligent CITIZENS dont like cops?

I agree completely. Respect earns respect. I said before, I've given that adage the full run since the beginning of my career. My only issue is taking a few videos and making a general statement about a profession. I understand that the public will never understand the job until they fill our shoes. I don't expect everyone to trust me. I take that as a challenge to show those who don't, that there are those of us who treat this job as the noble profession in which it was intended.
Read some of my other posts. I have fun with these guys as much as anyone on here. However, I try to display to this community (ODT), that LEO's aren't all crown wearing, egocentric, bullies with an agenda. This is not a "Ghost the great" post, just merely trying to say that there are cops you can trust, and who try at all costs to do the right thing.
LOL Omega you might have more fun on yellowbullet.com I highly recommend it. You can say anything on the site and nothing ever gets deleted. It is a drag racing forum. Lots of metal fab guys that build race cars.
There's your problem. You feel like you deserve respect from a perfect stranger. Try this next time you come across anyone, show respect to them first, even if they may "seem" rude. Common courtesy goes a long way to me, but if I don't recieve it from one person, doesn't mean i don't give it to the next.
Not one word! Your whole diatribe. And everyone else understood it. You just summs up what we were all thinking and helped clear it up. " other than traffic bs" that's what traffic laws are to you bs? Just traffic or all laws? Or just the ones you choose not to obey then ***** about getting stopped for? Exactly oh wise one with all the experiance, tell us what should cops be doing? Those traffic stops yield countless warrants, stolen items, drugs, guns, hell even a uninsured motorist or convicted felon on his way with a gun to kill his estranged wife. These are things you don't see from the outside. Or it may even save that same cop from scraping some kid off the asphalt cause a beat belt ticket was bs. Because of the people that put on a uniform and do that job and take a rash of **** from douchebags like you everyday for those guys that are over the top our streets are safer.

Very well said. I have had many interactions with LEOs. A lot good. Some bad. Every traffic violation I have ever had was reasonably pleasent. Except that time when I was 16 and had a toy gun in the backseat of my car. I didn't even know it was there. The officers 357 magnum never looked bigger. I thought sure I was going to be the white Rodney King. LOL
The bad interactions with Police officers has only been when I had to clarify a law for them. Or when an officer lied on me once. Interestingly enough I had it on video as well as several witnesses as to what I told the officer. He no longer works at that Department. My wife hates it when we see him because I address him as the liar.
On some issues the Chief Investigator for my county will call me to ask what the law is. LOL I am not a lawyer either.

There are good cops and there are bad cops, we just have to find a way to deal with the bad ones - they crack like everybody else when the pressure is too strong. Does it seem like bad cop behavior is getting more prevalent? Yes, but so is the rest of society's bad behavior. We're living in a powder keg and the weak minded are definitely cracking, as witness by all the insane shootings these days.
The way that I see it is that attributing these videos, that show the absolute worst behavior in cops, to all cops is like attributing the Sandy Hook shooter to all gun owners. And we all know how that feels.
I don't have an answer to this. I only hope cops know that most citizens are on their side, especially the ones that are carrying.

wont hurt my feelings any! Ghost: i pushed pretty hard to see how hot headed you were. And This may carry little weight to you but i understand why you defended your occupation when i titled the post the way i did. At first i thought you were "that guy" but seeing how you reacted to some of the **** i said to you wouldnt file you under the category i refer to when i say bad cop. Im tired of commenting the same thing over and over but i dont feel the need to keep getting into it with other odt members. I dont hate cops, just what i consider ****ty cops. I wish you only safety in your career choice, and hope that in the future you stay as true to your job as you seem to be. I see that you will have some tough decisions to make in the future with our current situation as a country and hope that you allow what you know is right to guide you in your decision making and not a paycheck.
