Some may feel comfortable sharing, some may not. I love war, duty and combat stories and have enjoyed hearing them from many friends and family over the years, especially from close, older relatives and even the ones that are farfetched. If you feel comfortable sharing, please post up! If it's not comfortable, I completely understand!

Either way, thanks for your service!

No great war story to share, got ready to go to Viet Nam twice but never left the U.S.

Just want to say a great big Thank You to all military, past or present.
Our country has poor leadership and some of our young folk have low standards, but thanks to our military, We are still free.

THANK YOU for serving

My brother talked me into volunteering for the draft on the "buddy system" in 1970 since he got drafted (supposed to stay together ). Long story made short, he got stationed in Hawaii and I got 12 months in Veitnam !

Whyle in Gulf in 1990 my MLRS Launcher caught fire.
My Driver/gunner tryed to pull the haylon but thankfully he could not break the seal ,it was only minor elct fire in engin bay .That sucked we were hot and out of our hide point and took 6 hr to get support .
Thats about it.

When I first got to Veitnam ,some of us were shipped to Bein Cat down in the Delta we were issued new M-16's. Everyone knew when the M-16's were first came out there were problems with them jambing but they supposedly had corrected the problems with chamber fouling and they so- called "reemed" them out to correct the problem. We were replacing an outfit that was leaving and were ordered to fire a few rounds to check them out which we did. A few days later the manure started to fly and we all started covering the perimiter with fire and I started having trouble after 1 mag with my rifle jambing up. Had to use my cleaning rod to push the empties out after every 10/15 rds and at some point I looked around and saw something I'll never ever forget, just about everyone was having problems like me and were using their cleaning rods too and remember thinking: we look like a bunch of damn Civil War soldiers out here with ram rods: somehow a batch of M-16's never got worked on and they were issued to us. Not a good way to get introduced to live fire and I have since then a LOT more respect for Civil War soldiers both North and South.
