War/Combat/Duty Stories

No war or combat stories here... I spent 12 years US Submarine service.. Now I have a few "Sea Stories" You know the difference between a "Fairy Tale" and a "Sea Story" Right?

A fairy tale begins with "Once Upon a Time" and a sea story begins with "This is No ****".....

God bless all you guys and all who serve. Glad ya'll are here to share your stories. My service time has all been L.E. (31 years) and not wanting to jump in but if you are interested that type of duty story I have a couple.

God Bless the USA!

I was a door gunner / crew chief / flight engineer on a CH-47 Chinook helicopter in Vietnam. I was there from Jan. 1971 until Jan 1972. While on a resupply mission one day we were called to go in and pick up a team of Korean infantry and carry them back to their main base camp. I was flying as the flight engineer that day and as I lowered the ramp on the aft of the helicopter I noticed these six Koreans carrying something and struggling with it. As they got closer I saw it....."it" was a HUGE constrictor type snake. Whether it was a python or boa constrictor I have no clue. All I know is the sucker was alive and it was big. I told our interprator that they were NOT going to bring that live snake on board our helicopter. The wanted to argue and the yelling started. I grabbed my M16 to let them know I was not in any mood to argue with them over that snake. The pilot came on the radio and ask me what the hold up was and I told him about the snake. He almost crapped a brick and told me not to let that snake on board. I had to level my M16 down on them and force them to back off. I raised the ramp and we left them standing there with their snake. I waved bye to them as we flew off.

Thats was their supper.
lol
Glad you made it back safley.
My uncle was a medic with the 100 first .
He came to my wedding in a BDU top and shorts,
the next time I saw him
I gave him a set of BDU pants to go with his top.

not my personal story but a close friend of mines father. who is like my own dad told me this . while in vietnam he was a tunnel rat . he met and befriended a young boy came around camp for food and to sleep , a long time this kid was coming he said one night the kid came walking into camp late at night while he was on guard duty strapped with granades and one in his hand pull pin ready i asked him what did you do he said ..... i killed him it was him or 20 of my fellow soldiers . now thats tough .

Speaking of grenades, we had a problem with the local gooks who worked in our camp. They would somehow get their hands on grenades and at night they'd pull the pins and then wrap the lever with electrical tape and drop them in the fuel tanks on trucks, storage tanks, forklifts, anything. They knew it took so long for the "sticky" to desolve from the tape and come unraveled letting the lever pop loose in the fuel. It could take 15 minutes to 24 hrs. depending on the number of wraps. That was just one of their many tricks I encountered. Smart, sneaky people are deadly !

my wifes cousin told me a story he is a marine 3rd armor division i believe , he was assigned to 1 of three level guarde shacks or checkpoints he said one day he was maning a humvee mounted m 60 at the last do not pass point , a vechicle ran pass the first nade it thru the second before he opened fire on it with the saw i asked him why was that a traumatic event , he told me it was an iraqie woman, pregnant with two kids loaded with explosives, sad the enemy will use children , i cant believe most americans are ignorant to our enemy and what length they will go thru to kill us. im an army guy myself infantry never seen any battle so hats off to you that have.
