"Failure-To-Fire" is among my top concerns with any firearm that I might depend my life upon!
The CZ's have a roll pin that retains the firing pin. The factory cautions that "Dry Firing" the pistol without snap-caps will damage this roll pin and the results can be "Failures-To-Fire".
I recently bought one NIB from a dealer ... and got first hand experience with 2 Failures-To-Fire on the very first magazine!. I contacted CZ and they said that many dealers sell their pistols after they have been "shown" for several months ... likely experiencing many "Dry-Fires" without snap-caps. They sent me a pre-paid RMA after I refused to accept parts to fix the problem myself. Oh, and there is little (to no) indication that there is a problem until it occurs.
Yes, there were no marks on the primer after the FTF and the problem was intermittent!
Oh, and the CZ representative told me that replacing the factory spec roll pin with a more robust pin could lead to a broken firing pin.
So, DO NOT DRY-FIRE YOUR CZ Pistols without a good snap-cap in place!!!!
UPDATE:
Their "Short Chamber" is the other known problem causing enough of a failure to feed to result in a failure to fire! CZ Warranty people sent me a prepaid RMA and I sent it in for a complete inspection and fix under Warranty. To their credit, that's exactly what they did! Yesterday I took it to the range and fired 38 flawless and accurate rounds through it and am now thoroughly pleased with its function and accuracy!
