LOL, Should have seen His face. I've never seen anyone so happy to see me.
I wish I had seen this post earlier., unfortunately you posted after I got scammed. I looking for an AR with the triangular handguard. This guy scammed me out of $750, with the exact same "contact petercross446@gmail.com. After several PMs back and forth he said he was having problems with his PayPal account. I sent him the money via his "supposedly" grandsons Venmo account "Aidan Alayak".I posted a WTB ad. I got an email saying I had a message from an ODT user by the name Alandaile. The message said “Contact Peter he has A300 Ultima 20 gauge for sale petercross446@gmail.com”. I already smelled a scam, but some ppl are more vulnerable, so I wanted to investigate. I got on ODT and the message was no longer in my inbox, so I reached out to the email address and they messaged back in less than ten minutes with pictures and to let them know if I’m interested. I still had that feeling, and after a brief search, I found the exact pictures of the gun on google from a different listing that had already been sold. Watch your backs out there fellas. The scummy scammers are everywhere!
I only do shipping for/with well established members. Almost always deal face to face. The moral to this is to simply meet up in person. If you can't or won't do that, then don't do the deal

Sent several emails to petercross446. Radio silence. As soon as the money was claimed all of our PMs disappeared. Contacted OTD and they had him removed about 2 weeks later. That was nice but he was already gone. I searched for his member name before I contacted OTD, No Such Member or something to that effect. ried to look back at our PMs - deleted!
I also had thought/known to Google the picture.
I also wish I had known "Anytime anyone wants you to email them is a scam. Same thing with all these Facebook groups--car/truck parts, golf, cycling etc. it doesn't matter. a WTB ad is easy bait for a scammer" as posted by Lord MDP.
Unfortunately didn't have this information. A short time later I received a PM from Ducksdeerandbeer with pics of an Upper only. Paid after several PMs I sent him $300. His PayPal handle is Jarrett Moneymaker. Tried to look back at our PMs - deleted!! looked up member - no such member. Another scam!!!!
SO MY FIRST TWO TRANSACTIONS HERE ON ODT AND I'M OUT OF $1050

"This isn't a new scam, it's been out there for at least the last 25-30 years going back to the pre-forum days of listservs. It and a couple of similar variations are far and away the most common scam attempt we see, and we've pointed them out ad nauseum at this point."
I'm new here and have read all the stuff about welcoming new members. Perhaps you you guys should include the scam alert that some in there. Is there some way ODT can vet new members or look for suspicious ads?
Not a scam on here, but I got a real looking email from EzPass telling me my account needed to be replenished yesterday. Just fishing I guess.
