Got 4-5 around my land. Have a nesting pair in the back woods , stay here pretty much year round . They circle all around me when I bush hog , scares up field rats .

Same… was bush hogging the fence line here earlier. Stirred up a few field rats and couple snakes. We have a couple we see around constantly along with what I think is a great horned owl..

The red shouldered hawks do love to set up home and stay. We've had a family, surely multiple generations, living on our 5 acres for 20 years. The original couple usually had two fledglings survive, and the current big momma is continuing that trend.

The young ones often come "check us out" by sitting on our deck rails, or anywhere they can watch us.

Crows will pester them. Barred owls are non-competitive and can live in the same tree as hawks.
