I see a lot of lube/clp discussions that lead to talk of rust prevention. I was reading some threads by the revolver crowd on another site that was discussing the protective properties of wax. I just always figured wax was used to make the safe queens shine, but it got me thinking about it for rust prevention on the EDC, since we're a little warmer and wetter than some regions. Anyone use something like Renaissance or Johnson's on their EDC for this reason? Did it work any better than a clp? Any unforeseen down side?

I wear a handgun for over 24hrs at a time and have never had an issue with rust. Wipe it down periodically with your choice of oil/rust preventative and you shouldn't have any issues.

I can envision a wax build up sneaking in and gumming up the internals. An EDC is going to show wear.
Definitely something to consider. I was thinking more along the lines of a very light coat, just on slide, sights, externals. I wouldn't think it would get in applied like that, but I wouldn't want to find out the hard way either.

I must sweat acid. I do this with my Shield and I'm getting a spot on the slide. How often is periodically for you?
