We got ‘til 1am on the HPA/SHORT Act🚨

status of SBRs? have one now? wait til 1/1/26?
Man, with the wait times being potentially up to two years (read this is what happened in 2016), it’s not worth not spending $200 to avoid that. The way I look at it thanks to my college economics professor, Dr. Schwartz, is the opportunity cost and what it’s worth to be able to enjoy something now as opposed to later.

And they weren’t taxed or registered.

I think this may be the one thing we agree on. I don’t think anyone wants to admit that she was right, but she was and, the fact is, people seem to overlook that she actually struck down parts of Biden’s bill a few years back. Yes, she is a Democrat, but she also has a job to do to try to be as impartial as possible. Do I think she is? I don’t know, but I respect her for standing by Parliamentary procedure.

Honestly, I feel like whoever is the parliamentarian should not have their political leanings disclosed and should be as non-biased as possible. I realize that’s a pipe dream, but still.

^^^^ No one seems to respect any lawful facts they do not agree with in this political climate....At some point no one will have a good reason respect anyone...... Anarchy prevails and it will be everyman for himself and God for us all. The Constitution was written in 1787 . Time for an update ?

As said before, the GOA has documents ready to attempt to remove everything that now has a zero tax from the NFA. My fear is if it drags along and the power swings, which is very likely, the tax will be returned…..but it won’t be $200 anyone. They will adjust for inflation and possibly increase the transfer upon death of owner. I will be moving everything to my trust as quick as I can.

This is a good and accurate summary. As much as I hate the way it went, the Parliamentarian was actually right by parliamentary procedure. I suspect it may have snuck through it f it had only been the HPA, but by rule, she'd have been correct to deny it.
Hopefully it still goes the way we want after challenges. Of course whatever gets done, can get undone and the GOP is trying their dead level best to surrender both chambers next year. 🤬
Yes, the same Senate Parliamentarian, Elizabeth MacDonough, who ruled the hearing protection and short acts as non-budget items, shot down the Democrats' effort to start the process of legalizing all the illegal aliens in this country. They tried to disguise it as a budget item three different times, and she overruled them all three times. The hive didn’t hate her then.

The SCOTUS basis for the NFA being constitutional was the simple fact the NFA is/was a tax. That tax is now deleted from US code. The goal now is to sue and have the NFA ruled unconstitutional since the basis for it being legal under the Constitution is now gone.

The problem with this though, the courts will just refuse to take the case thus allowing the NFA to stand with an unconstitutional zero dollar tax.
That's the way I read/watched it. If they remove the actual tax component from the NFA then it's just an overreaching registry and harassment of gun owners. I'm really surprised that they just didn't knock the tax part down to like $10.00 just to keep it alive.

Title 26 US Code which is the NFA is an Internal Revenue Section of Law. Look it up. This is not like the matter involving illegal aliens she ruled in against Biden. The SCOTUS rule on this in 1937. Not sure how they found it to be in violation of the Byrd provisions for the purpose of reconciliation. Elizabeth MacDonough, the Senate Parliamentarian, a life long Democrat who was appointed by Harry Reid, was clearly acting in a partisan manner with respect the the SHORT act and the Hearing Protection Act. She needs to go.

My respect for her went up even more. Good on her for being impartial.

I'm as pessimistic as the next guy, but I think re: the NFA registry, we need to take a wait and see approach. There is a good chance that the reason Clyde voted in favor of the revised bill, was that he was given assurances that once the bill becomes law, an ATF ruling or a court challenge by the Trump administration will do away with the registry.

Court cases have found that a national registry is unlawful. The only reason that the NFA "registry" exists, was to keep records that the taxes required have been paid.

I'm not a fan of the bill, but it has much more to do with fiscal policy than how much 2A we got. Getting anything on the 2A side was just a bit of sugar to help down a bitter pill to begin with.
Meh maybe, but that would take awhile to get though the courts.

Just heard the President say it was the largest spending cuts ever! But along with cuts much bigger increases were also passed. I’m I’m oooon,,
I could be wrong but from the videos I saw Mr. Clyde did pretty much all he could do. If they had sent it back to the Senate with his mods included the cunt parliamentarian would have most likely thrown it ALL out .
would have been better. Do a clean bill.

90% of the people bitching in this thread about “muh republicans failed me” will be standing in line in a week or two waiting to proudly show their weapons permit to buy that tax free registered can/sbr.

ODT Sunshine Patriots….. :pound:
I already paid mine so I didn’t have to wait for the ones that trade the $200 for the future of their children.
