We got ‘til 1am on the HPA/SHORT Act🚨

My big issue is that the whole law was codified under title 26 USC which is an Internal Revenue tax provision. How can anyone argue that the repeal of the whole law under a reconciliation is a violation of the Byrd procedures? You can’t unless you’re trying to shoehorn this into something to fit your anti 2A agenda.

I can’t remember if it was this thread or a different one, but the Parliamentarian was fair in her ruling on the Byrd Rule.

In fairness, she had no issue (from my understanding) with changing it to $0 tax, but the repealing of the NFA for these items is legislative. Hopefully the NFA registration for $0 tax items is found unconstitutional (sounds like it should be) and bumped down to a simple form 4473.

You don’t have to like it, but it shows some level of impartiality on her behalf. She did strike down Biden’s stuff on his bill a few years back.

I love KOTH. Binge and comfort show for me.
We have every season up to about 7 which is when Fox decided not to release anymore on DVD. Have to stream the rest on Hulu.
They're supposed to do a reboot but I don't see how. Half the original cast is dead now. Just last month John Redcorn was shot and killed by a neighbor. BTW...I didn't know until then that he was married to a DUDE. Plus, Lucky is dead, Luanne is dead and Dale is dead. Without Dale Gribble they got no show.

I disagree with it being fair and impartial. The whole law to include the NFA registration elements are codified in title 26 which is purely a tax law and should have been struck down completely during reconciliation as initially proposed. There is not a Byrd rule issue with removing a piece of legislation that is fundamentally a tax law.

I am sure they can use AI to recreate any voice they need.

I’m curious as to whether legislation has ever been repealed under the Byrd rule? That’s a sincere question. Again, the Parliamentarian was trying to separate tax versus legislation and unless she had precedence for doing so, it’s up to the courts to strike down the NFA as being unconstitutional (at least for $0 tax items).

The good news is they recorded Season 1 and it launches next month I think.

Dale Gribble I heard could be voiced by someone else, so that may be solved, though him passing away wouldn’t be a hard write-in on the show for season 2 given his conspiracy theorist background.

John Redcorn became far less prevalent after him and Nancy’s affair ended, so not a hard write-off either.

Luanne and Lucky, the former being a major character in the original series, slowly faded away with time and writing off her story that Lucky hit it big slipping and falling at some major corporation and making serious paper wouldn’t be a surprise and could explain their absence with possible references to them throughout the show.

Overall, I’m pumped for the reboot and think it’ll be amazing when it comes on.
