Weed Eater help!

I have an echo trimmer and stihl weed eater. My echo has never given me problems in 9 years of use. I've had the stihl the same amount of time and it gives me some problems sometimes. I have pulled the stihl carb out twice to clean the carburetor. For some reason the jets get clogged on it, but not my echo or my blower. Use same gas in all 3 if them.

Echo or Stihl. I have had both for many years and they are great. Dont try and get out cheap with a piece of crap. You'll regret it later. I once had a cheap Homelite and ended up wrapping it around a power pole after I got blisters pulling on it. Or you could go green and get.....

It's not the jets that get clogged. It's the little felt check valves on the inside of the body of the carb. If you take one apart, you need to install a carb kit in it. Those little gaskets don't like to work properly when they get taken apart. Most of the time now days I just replace the carb. The fuel now days reeks havoc on these little 2 stroke carbs and rebuilding them is becoming more and more of a challenge.

On a side note, I can get you a discount at Howard Brothers. I worked there from when I was 15 to 23 and still am very close to the Howards family

I do this for a living...20+yrs!!I purchase 6 new trimmers every season.Stihl used to be #1 with the FS80's true 2 cycle now all they make is 4 mix engines for epa reasons they have valves and springs just like 4 cycle, but still run 50:1 mixed gas they dont last in the commerical world. We use Redmax trimmers, blowes, edgers, and hedge trimmers. These are still true 2 cycle engines last forever.Stihl chainsaws are still true 2 cycle engines but who knows for how long??

Can't beat those FS80's. This new stihl 4 mix stuff doesn't hold a candle to an FS80. I have one that is 20 years old. Someone bought a new one and threw it away, I put a new carb on it and it still runs like a champ. Piston still has the machining marks in it.
