What a bad back looks like on a MRI film..

Work with a Chiro or Pt that’s good and strengthen the core/legs/glutes. My spine is similar (but worse) and I’m 98% pain free now without surgery. Not squatting college weight but not too shabby for an old ****
My back really 😊 ot bad again about three days ago. I can barely stand up straight. I don' t know what I did to aggravate it so bad. It always hurts a good bit but this is unbearable pain. Two Tylenol and one Ibuprofen along with some topical rub helps a bit but when I bend over for anything it just hurts like someone is jabbing a sharp stick in my lower back. It's a deep throbbing I could really do without. I can stand up for few minutes and then I have to hit the recliner. I wouldn't wish this in my worst enemy!

Hard to believe but the best thing you can do is to get out and walk.

Oh the doctors were just itching to get in there and root around. Another doctor that had went over my MRI's said with the amount of damage I have he said " Don't you dare let them operate on your back! ". He said they will do one surgery and it won't stop there. He also said it's highly likely it will be worse when they are done, if they can even correct everything I have going on. He told me to take meds and just stay on those.
Your back pain worse than mine . I have two cracked vertebrae and as u age Uncle Arthur has already set up camp in my back & a lot days I can tell how weather be in next few days. I don’t blame you avoiding back surgery. My doctor advised me same thing no back surgery.Walking & stretching helps me & visit to Chiropractor occasionally. Got ice pack my back as I write (ICE is NICE) As we age we pay the price of our youthful adventurers but guess what. Iam thankful can still get around & not confined to a bed or wheel chair. Just keep positive additude

Never had back problems until two years ago. I got up one morning and started limping on my right leg for no reason. No matter how hard I tried not to limp, I couldn’t do it. Then came the numbness and things progressively got worse. Woke up one night in severe pain. Tried to walk and fell to the floor. My wife and daughter had to tote me to the car. I had to sit in the ER for more than an hour while they tended to the non English speakers who looked like nothing was wrong with them. Found out I had no cartilage left in L-3,4,5 and it was pinching a nerve. It’s just getting worse since I won’t have the surgery.

Even with all the hardware, cages, wires and pins in my spine, the best thing I have going is I got an inversion table. About 3-4 times a week I lock my ankles in on that thing , flip upside down and hang for 30-45 mins at a time. Rocking back and forth, stretching , etc., it feels great !!

You speak words of wisdom my friend. I can relate to every thing you said!

After reading these posts my L2 compression fracture doesn't seem so bad. Trying to load an anvil in back of truck by myself was a really dumb idea. It slipped and I grabbed it was even dumber. Heard a snap crakle pop and immediate pain like I never felt. 2 months in and still hurts but getting better. Lesson learned: what you should lift is inversely proportional to how many decades you've been on this earth. Prayers for all who experience back issues. For you young whiper snappers......take care of your back!!!!!

I’m at home with back surgery. L4 and L5 area. 4 screws and two rods. After 2 1/2 years of chiropractor, physical therapy and injections. All but a waste of money. Dr said next step was surgery. Always said no way. But when you can’t walk 10 feet without feeling like a lightning bolt from waist down both sides you do what you think you never would do. 4 weeks post op today. So far this is what I should have done 2 years ago. Only thing that I feel now is the 16 stitches in the center of my lower back. Mine was obviously not as bad as some but it still sucked. Prayers for all to find their relief. A member of the back pain club.
