The 512 is very basic the advantage is it takes double A batteries.I agree with the PA red dots. Mine, I forget the model, has held up to being shot on my SBR.
I've heard Aimpoints have better battery in that you can just leave it on for years? I've heard mixed things about the Eotech. Seem like they fail a little more frequently compared to the Aimpoints.
Is the 512 an old model?
Yes they are compared to a AimpointI agree on the eotechs, they're blurry to me.
The T1/H1 is great they just cost so dang much, I just buy from primary armsThe newer eotechs (EXPS3 for example) are slightly more compact than an aimpoint pro if that is the comparison, but they actually weight the same give or take a few grams. The Aimpoint T1/T2 models are far more compact and weigh about 1/3 of the most compacts eotechs.
I assume we're talking about standard AR's with an operating range out to a couple of hundred yards?
I have an Aimpoint PRO on my 'go-to' carbine, a Nikon M223 1-4x on a mid-range AR, and fixed iron sights on everything else except my precision build.
I'd like to get a variable true 1 power through 4 or maybe 6 with an illuminated reticle like the Vortex Strike Eagle but wish I could justify the expense of the Luepold Mark 4 MR/T. Okay maybe I'd like a couple of those Mark 4's...
Yea I'm pretty confident in the H1 or even a T1 for the SBR but I'm thinking about what to do on my carbine. I'm really wanting to just go red dot plus 3x magnification as most of the work will be at shorter distances.
