Please explain this sorcery to me!That's the beauty of the Lee dies. You don't need to know anything about neck sizing. Couldn't get any easier.
That was my impression in the beginning also. Then I did more research and tried them myself.I have always associated Lee being the bargain bin cheap-o dies
These Lee dies size the neck only using a collet. Since the brass is fire-formed to a particular chamber already, all you need is to create neck tension, and case OAL is less critical as well. I de-prime and clean my brass, re-prime, run the brass into neck-size die, powder charge and seat the bullet....done. I can generally fire a piece of LC brass about 4 times before I have to full-length-size and trim. No problem consistently hitting a 3" gong at 320 yards with the RPR using this ammo. And somewhat common to hit a 4" gong at 500 yards. Please explain this sorcery to me!
The instructions that come with the Lee collet dies are super-simple. I can set up a new die on my single-stage press in about 60 seconds. And the locking ring sets it in place so that subsequent use requires no set up at all...just screw it into the press. So how do you set up and run this neck sizing die?
I have always used FL dies for my bolt guns.
