What does the death rattle of an auto company sound like?

Ah. Any curmudgeons/dinosaurs on here remember the ill-fated 1958 Ford Edsel ? I have the scale model version in the light green/white color. Thanks.
If my memory is right, all of the premium brands sales were down badly in '58 due to the recession. Actually Edsel met Ford's market share percentage goal, but on lower sales numbers.

Tata actually makes good stuff (besides Jaguar), we spend part of the year in India where my wife is from, and last time we got a Tata Harrier- awesome little diesel SUV, I'd buy one if they sold them here. The horn works great ;););)

Jag is another thing entirely. I had an F-type and couldn't wait to get rid of that thing. Fun to drive.. when it would start. The POS would only recognize the key fob when it felt like it, and the infotainment would just reboot when it wanted to. Jamming to your favorite song on a backroad and it would just... go off and reboot and show the Jag logo, almost as if it were taunting me.
I drove one of Jag's mid size SUVs when I worked at the port . Then I had to get out and give it a once over to check for any dings scratches or other damage. We were supposed to stick those little skinny Post It things next to anything we found . Anyway I got to the fuel door and opened it up and immediately saw the green fuel cap. It was a diesel and I didn't even realize it when I got in and cranked it up.
I really wish this country would loosen up emission regs so that we could get some of the diesel powered vehicles that every other country gets.
Somewhere deep in my phone pics is a pic of two ( that I wasn't supposed to take) of a couple of acres of new Ford Rangers that were about to leave the country. Most were base looking models in regular and extended cab versions. No four doors in the bunch. Most had 4WD stickers on the bed and some were diesel powered. Back then I was asking why we can't get THOSE Rangers over here. Personally I don't need or want a $100K truck. I also don't want all those electronics and options that will most likely break sooner than later. I need a truck for doing truck **** not for showing off.

They were likely headed for Brazil.

The diesels are the one that gave them the most problems. Stupid good mileage, but a lot of trouble, just like our Diesel’s the Govt guidelines, filters and def systems are stupid.
