I bought this Taurus 38 snubbie from a local couple, years ago. I immediately fired several cylinders of 38spcl to check for proper function, cleaned it, and put it away. It's a rock-solid little pistol, perfect for EDC pocket carry, but I'm partial to my old Airweight Smith.
Now I'm thinking about putting it up on the chopping block, but noticed it is a 5-shot, so it's probably not the model 856 I thought it was. I did a search, and then thought it may be a model 605, which is a 5-shot, but a .357.
But, the cylinder won't close with .357's in it, so I guess it's a .38 afterall.
There are no markings anywhere, including under the yoke. It was my belief that it's a matte stainless, but a magnet sticks to everything.
I'd hate to be one those guys that annoyingly posts ads with no more info than, "gun for sell", so I'm hoping someone can clue me in on exactly what this might be.
Thanks........

Says right on the frame. Taurus 85.
DOH !!!! I assumed that was year of manufacture, LOL!! ( Would it have bankrupted them to stamp a "M" in front of "85"? Or even state the chambering?)
I'd just searched up that it was a M85, then came back here just in time for the predictable dog pile!;)
Also found out this must be "stainless" despite being magnetic.
Anyway, thanks for the info. M
