What have you reloaded today?

Getting ready to FL size some .223 WSSM brass....I hate when you open a sealed bag of Winchester brass, only to find 49 pieces!!! this has happened twice recently to me....you would think that Winchester would side on a little + for the weight...one more piece, instead of one less....

Write them. May not do any good but still. Never know.

Put together some 30-40 Krag loads today. Used Hornady 180gr Round Nose with H4350. Hornady brass. Fed 210M primer. Worked really well in the old girl. Groups tightened up nicely at about 2100fps.

Did 6.5 Creedmoor to add to some other test loads. It just so happens the land I shoot on is awesome hunting acreage so deer season has put me in hold the last couple months. I do have another 350 yards range my childhood friend owns but he works his ass off and it's tricky getting together for that. I was shooting Hornady Match shelf ammo and it performed way better than expected with that ammo. I am hoping the 130 Berger over H4350 does better then the high volume box stuff.

I've almost come to the belief that the factory match ammo stuff available today, is as good as most reloads(including mine)....I'm just say'n

I have never had any real good results from Hornady Match ammo. I mean it might hover around 1 MOA but a good barrel like I have should shoot 3/4 at worst with good reloads. In have 6.8spcll guns that shoot all over the map with Hornady and turn around and shoot 1/2 MOA with my reloads. I am not expecting massive improvements but at least better than the box stuff. So barrels really respond to reloads and some just shoot the same no matter what they shoot.

My experience with Ranier Arms Ultra match barrels have always been 1/2 MOA consistently with the right load. I had a 308 barrel from them that shot .25 MOA almost boringly out a AR-10. Don't get me wrong this 6.5 creed barrel shot darn good with the White box Hornady but from what I am reading the real results come from Berger bullets over H4350. That seems to be the competition recipe. 130gr. or 140 gr. Berger AR Hybrid projectiles are magic.

I have not reloaded since I moved to the coast 6 years ago. I had a great gun room at my old place with lots of presses and processing equipment. I had all of my stuff boxed up but didn't have a shop set up. For various reasons I have not been shooting much either so the need to reload hasn't been there. Last summer I started cleaning out what used to be a wood shop to get it set up as my gun room for maintenance of firearms and reloading. Several weeks ago when I went to check zero on my 6.8 AR I use for hunting I realized I was down to just a few rounds. I got motivated and started setting things up. I got my presses all mounted and started organizing. This past Thursday I loaded 40 rounds of 6.8 using my go to Barnes TTSX bullets. Now I'm going to start on some pistol rounds and get my handload inventory built back up. I'll probably start with 357 and 44 mag and then get my Pro 1000 press going to do some 45acp. This should help force me to get to the range more often.
