Had an overnight flood from a broken refrigerator water supply line, that was spraying on the whole floor level. About a half an in. of water. Replaced dining room, now onto the living room. By myself.
My landlord has a specialized tool called a Jam Saw to cut out the bottom of doorways which you need to do if laminate or hardwood wasn't there before.
I guess thats cheaper/less hassle than filing a claim? I did a small room a few weeks ago and it was quite the task. The measuring and running outside to cut was the painstaking process (around door frames and closet). Especially running up and down stairs. Felt good after it was done though. Have fun!

I don't file claims unless it's catastrophic. This was about 350sq/ft for one, and 250sq/ft for the other.
At least it looks like a "floating" floor system.
I do just about everything I can myself. My wife is a stay at home mom.
Here are the pics of previous floor I replaced not too long ago, that got damaged...
The flood sucks, but the new floor is looking good!
