What is the most comfortable carry set up you've found?

Hk vp9 in a galco cop hoster. Backup is a glock 42 in a modified pocket holster. Snug as a bug

LCP in the pocket = not even carrying, J-frame in the pocket is not far behind.

Comfortable = single stack 9mm, 3:30, single-clip kydex holster.

People are crazy about the hybrid IWB holsters (Comp-tac Minotaur, Crossbreed, Alien Gear), but I don't see the point when carrying a single-stack. A single-clip IWB stays put with minimal bulk. Makes no sense to me to buy a super slim gun and then carry with a thick slab of leather in your waistband.

EDIT: Currently using a bull belt from the Beltman. Don't overlook the belt! Absolutely critical if you're carrying anything bigger than a 380, IMO.

What gun do you practice with a want to carry?

For my G19, I carry everyday at 3:30 to 4:30 in a Blackpoint Tactical Mini Wing Light. My most comfortable set up is my Alien Gear holster in the same position. I think the leather kydex hybrid holsters are the most comfortable, but they do take up more space than some smaller options. The Alien Gear is great because you can get it shipped to you for $40, and if you change carry pistols, just send them back the kydex plate and they'll send you the one you want for your new carry gun.

In my limited experience and opinion, the money spent on a holster is well worth it. Some prove to be bargains though, but not a lot. I think I spent about $250 to $300 trying stuff for my G19. The BPT mini wing light ran me $100 but it has held up, it's comfortable, and when I wear it out they have a great warranty.

For several years now, since I turned 21 and got my weapons carry permit, I've never concealed carried ANYTHING for any significant period of time, comfortably and without worrying about printing, without one of these:

http://dalefrickeholsters.com/product/zacchaeus-concealment-holster/

I just loop it around by belt in the 1:00 (appendix) position, and then attach the trigger 'holster'. My belt holds the gun in place just fine and it's 100% as safe as any good traditional holster (i.e. the trigger is completely closed off and protected and the gun is made secure). I've carried anything from a S&W Shield to a Glock 21SF using these, and I never have an issue with the gun getting out of place, or need to worry about retention/safety or whatever. They're extremely simple and extremely safe. For me, the extra thickness of a normal holster (kydex or leather) puts the gun in a position where the handle prints a lot more - but with this, the gun is held up firmly against my body by my belt, minimizing printing. Once practiced a little, drawing the pistol is lightning fast and easy to very safely 'reholster'. Granted, I'm in the extreme minority here in this carry setup, but it's just what works for me.

The trigger guard is also very useful for transporting a loaded gun, keeping a pistol safely loaded as a 'nightstand' gun, etc.

Several other companies make the same kind of thing now, including Aegis Armory and Raven Concealment (though I think the latter only makes them for Glocks and maybe the Shield).

Edited to add: My most 'comfortable' setup is a S&W Shield carried w/a spare mag in my pocket (going to work). My most 'comforting' setup is my HK P30L V1 w/a spare mag and Elzetta light in one pocket and Benchmade in the other (going anywhere else).

Glock 23 in a Crossbreed Super tuck on a Biothane belt. A good quality belt is even more important that what holster you choose. I have concealed full size all steel 1911s, Glock 17s, etc with this set up all day with no discomfort.

The quality belt is the key. Cheapest belt I have found good enough for all day carry was around 50 bucks. The belt I use was a gift from my wife 6 years ago. It was 120 bucks, but 6 years later it still looks brand new and has no signs of deforming, streching, etc.

I will never go back to a Walmart belt again.
