A very good friend of mine talked, cajoled, threatened etc, me to re-firb this knife for his wife. It was orgininally her grandmothers. Can anyone tell me what this blade was used for and what it should look like. My main interest is the tip. Was it originally rounded and should i keep this tip on it?
Any thoughts would be appreciated!! Even your comments Carl❗️❗️
Thank you all for looking!!

Did it appear to have a sharpened edge for cutting? How thick is the blade? Flexible like a fillet knife or stiffer? Looks a little on the large size for a butter knife, but hard to tell from pics. Could it possibly be one of the old school butcher knives that had tip broken then reshaped?
Not saying CAD is incorrect, just hard to tell from the pics provided. What are actual dimensions?

It is 9-7/8” long and it does have an edge to it. I didn’t want to disagree with CAD either, but it does seem to be more of a knife than a spreader. That is on me or the bad images! It is 1/8” tapering to what may have been a point. I really do think it was a cutting instrument….. originally
anyway!!!

Looks to me like a old fashioned skinning knife. I’ve seen similar used when I was a kid and the family was killing hogs.
Some was skinned and others were scrapped.
