What kind of mount is this??? SKS

This was on the gun when I got it. Is it some kind of aftermarket or??? I put a scope on it and I couldn't get it to zero in or even close to be honest. Don't know if I should try a different scope or a different scope mount.

I haven't seen one like that before, but for relatively cheap you can get a rear dust cover back there that has a rail on top and it would likely be a better idea than what you have now.

Due to its height trying to maintain proper cheek weld on that thing has got to be horrible and that could be alot of your zeroing issue. I second rocko.

I've read of some of them and most say they require tweeking, is there any that are direct fit?

That is what they call the cowboy companion sks. I think they were imported like that. But don't lose any of the part as they are very hard to find and not cheap. I have seen complete base and rails go for $200.

Draftpick is correct, that is a cowboy companion SKS right there. That mount is suppose to be pretty solid...what kind of scope were you trying to zero?

Looks to me like the mount is WAY off balance or level. Could be an optical illusion, but it looks way off to me. Appears to me like you need to Drop the Rear by using the adjusting screws top and bottom. Which way could you not get it to zero? You should be able to use a Bore sight to get it close (on paper) at home and then Fine adjust from there at the Range.

I honestly don't remember the name of it but I know its a cheap one from wally world I got for christmas. And if memory serves me correct I believe it was high left at 100 feet (est).

I was thinking it looked to well cut to be homemade but wasn't sure. Thanks for the info.

Keep that mount, do not go with the dust cover rail, this is the type of scope mount that was ment for the firearm.
