What make is this rifle ?? UPDATE

I am trying to identify the make and model of this rifle. There is a marking covered by the scope but trying to avoid taking it off. Any help would be appreciated. Funny enough have had this piece in my collection for years, never shot it or even investigated. A friend was hard up for some cash years ago so I helped out in exchange for this piece.

There are no stamps on the chamber or barrell? Try taking the stock off.

I was leaning towards it being a Mauser based off of what I have read on the internet in association with the caliber. Thought I would ask you guys before I started taking parts of the gun for markings. Any idea what the value of this piece is "ballpark" ?

I have done NOTHING except put it in my gun cabinet years ago and then taken it out today to take pics. What's a rifle like this worth?

The problem (or advange) of a sporterized military rifle is the quality (or lack thereof) of the conversion. Yours looks spectacular, and these are amazingly accurate rifles.

Putting a value on it would be difficult without a closer examination.
