What newish round will be tomorrows classic?

From what I've read of your posts, you seem to know your stuff - but in this instance, I wonder (and I mean this honestly) if have any experience with subsonic 300BLK? In the AR platform, I don't know of a 175gr loading that will reliably cycle the action....and to your comment regarding room in the case for powder with 220gr bullets, there is plenty - if not too much. 300BLK is very capable of delivering 240gr projectiles at 1000fps with a better ballistic coefficient than a .45 caliber bullet of the same weight and velocity out a 1:8 twist 9" barrel.

yeah, OK. Sounds like I do need to do some research on this...

I understand the 240's have a better BC and all that, but terminal performance is likely less at short range than a comparable pistol bullet, until someone makes a suitable bullet.

Good to know that about the twist rates.

But OK, I retract my speculation and will stick to what I know.

One question though: you (rOmiLaYu) state that the 175s won't cycle the AR action in suppressed subsonic. Too light, or too heavy?

Well, in looking around, I may need to modify my previous statement. Apparently there's a solid loading for the 178gr AMAX bullets:

So in that loading, your comparison to 40S&W would be appropriate. It has been my personal experience that below 180grs, things get dicey with reliability of operation...but then again, I load exclusively with H110 and LilGun - the guy in the article is using 1680 which is a denser powder and may make some difference.
