What's an effective way to get rid of Armadillos? Shooting them in the head with a 22 air rifle works but what else?

I tried shooting them with a 22 rifle but then I figured since most shots were only from 30 feet away I went with a pump shotgun with small birdshot loads.
I kept the short smoothbore barrel on it that I use for home defense, and even use the pressure switch operated tactical flashlight on it.
That worked pretty well but a blast of birdshot from 20 or 30 feet didn't kill them cleanly it usually took a second shot from about 6 or 8 feet of way to not only finish them off but basically rip them in half.

I did also try a suppressed 22 pistol it was my Walther P 22 wearing the AAC pilot suppressor standard high power Hollow Point loads --but they would come out subsonic due to the short barrel length.
This gun /ammo combo may have worked well if I were more accurate under dim lighting conditions, but I wasn't accurate enough and ended up with a lot of misses and bad hits that required a couple of finishing shots at spitting distance.
PS: it's much harder than I would've thought to hit a wounded armadillo center of mass even if it's only crawling around in 4 foot diameter circles because you've already shot off two of its legs on the same side of its body....
