When it happens

If you are looking for prepper skills, I would work on a few things.

Ccw a gun everywhere. Learn how to blend into different crowds, and how to leave places quickly. Start keeping tabs on emergency exits. When you hit a big plce like the mall, and you are done at a random spot. Walk, don't run, to the nearest exit. Don't go out the way you came in.Identify choke points and threats on your way.

Pickup some lock picks and learn.

Pick up a ham radio and learn.

Store food and practice cooking it and eating it.

Ah and with winter approaching, get some good cold weather gear and try not going inside for a day when it's really cold outside. Most people only have a fleece, and when it's 15 degrees and really windy, that ain't gonna cut it.

You may not be able to make a fire in certain conditions/locations.

I cc a g23 every day, as far as the mall I avoid that place like the clap. But I do keep tabs on entrances and exits, and am constantly in condition yellow. We store about enough food for a month and have a garden. It was small this year, but am learning to can what we can't eat. Next years garden will be bigger. We are looking into getting a few hens for eggs.

I was very blessed to get a house with a wood burning fire place, if we lose power in the winter. we spend a weekend on monteagle mt every January, got the cold weather gear covered. This year we are actually planning to make that camping trip with just our bobs.

Ideally you will have a community that you can count on. That way, if you have a weak area, you will most likely have a community member that can pick up where you are lacking.
G44L!! In all seriousness I have been thinking about this more lately, your absolutely right about different people having different skill sets. One person can't do it all and lord knows there is strength and safety in numbers.

community? yeah ideally that would be great! There are tons of reasons supporting this idea.

Its safe to say that unless you live, work, and commute with them, that there is a really large chance that you will be utilizing that get home bag alone. At best with one other adult. At worst, with some kids.

^^^ SHTF or not, this is good advice ^^^

I always carry and am constantly scanning my surroundings and watching everybody around me.

I also look for all exits/entrances and try not to sit with my back to one.

Develop the Gray Man skill set. In a bad long term scenario, avoiding the exodus of the un prepared will be crucial to survival. Many think being armed is being prepped.
Every fight will have losers.
