Try out the Metal Supermarket. It's in Marietta between Canton Road connector and Bells Ferry on Williams Drive. Maybe you'll luck up and they have something on the cutoff shelf you can use and you can buy it by the pound. If I remember correctly I think they sell at around $2.39 a lb. If not they can cut to length for you from the new stuff, It's awesome. You can walk around in their warehouse too and see what all they carry instead of having to order from a catalog.

No, seriously probably any welding shop might have some flat stock laying around. If not there the steel supply place will for sure.
