Where To Buy A New VCR Locally?

As an aside, let's consider that all magnetic audio and video tape will degrade over time. And if VCR cassettes are not stored on their edges, like books should be stored, but are stored flat like bricks, they can develop a wrinkle in them that ruins the video quality. I've watched VCR tapes (both commercial films and home movies) that were 25 years old, and while they are functional, the picture quality is TERRIBLE, both compared to when they were new and compared to any modern digital image taken with even a 5-megapixel camera.

I agree with one of the suggestions earlier in this thread that the thing to do, even after you acquire your own VCR player, is to identify the best stuff you want to preserve long-term and have it TRANSFERRED to DVD's or some other digital media.

DVDs don’t last too long either

We had one of my son in a school play and it sat Unwatched in my parents closet for seven years and we decided to watch it and it was toast
